Benifiel Dentistry is proud to offer our patients multiple alternatives for restoring their teeth.  Our newest additions - two state of art lasers - offers another method of removing tooth decay, usually without the need for local anesthetics.  We have also invested in a soft tissue laser which allows us to do many soft tissue procedures with less post operative pain and faster healing for the patient.

 

                                                                                              

 

                                                                      

New: Laser Cavity Detection

Modern dental science now brings us a way to diagnose decay in the pits and fissures of teeth more accurately than ever before.  In the past we have relied on the dental explorer to diagnose decay.  When the explorer would "stick" in the tooth, we diagnosed this as a decayed area.  Unfortunately, by the time this happens, the decay had already progressed.  The new Diagnodent uses a laser at 655 nm to fluoresce decay and provide a digital reading showing the degree of the decay.  Healthy tooth structure does not fluoresce.  This new technology enables us to diagnose and treat decay in its infancy keeping restoration size to a minimum.  It also allows us to place preventative sealants in teeth displaying decay beginning in the outer enamel

 

"Drill-less Dentistry"

Our office practices the philosophy of "Minimal Invasive Dentistry". We use materials and techniques that are the least invasive and which strengthen and preserve as much of the tooth's structure as possible.

One of these techniques is Air Abrasion or the "drill-less" dentistry system. Air Abrasion is a state of the art instrument which uses minute alpha alumina particles carried by a stream of air which gently and conservatively spray away decay. This system allows us to treat decay at an earlier stage without much tooth removal. Air Abrasion produces no heat or vibration so it can often be used without dental anesthetics. Instead of the whine of the dental drill, all you hear is a blowing sound similar to an air brush or aerosol can being sprayed.

Introducing: "The Wand"

We are pleased to bring you the first major advance in local anesthetic delivery since the syringe was invented more than 150 years ago: The Wand by Milestone Scientific. The Wand is a computer controlled anesthetic device that controls the flow of anesthetic into tissue. By regulating the flow of anesthetic into tissue, the perception of pain caused by tissue pressure is greatly reduced producing a near painless injection. It is visually non-threatening in appearance, thus reducing patient anxiety and fear. The device creates an anesthetic pathway that ensures the most comfortable needle insertion possible. New site specific techniques can be used thus eliminating facial numbness in some areas and greatly reducing the amount of anesthetic used.

Computed Digital Radiography

Our office is pleased to incorporate a revolutionary advanced system for taking x-rays....Digital Radiography. Digital Radiography is a computerized imaging system that utilizes an electronic sensor where dentists would normally use film. The sensors produce sharp and clear x-ray images that appear almost instantly on a computer monitor. This system enables us to increase our diagnostic capabilities while using up to 90% less radiation than conventional film x-rays.
